Stampin!

The three of us went to a friend’s house today to do some Stampin’ Up card making.  It was not an official event (no catalogs or pressure to buy things) but just lots of cards to play with.  Besides her and the Orstad clan, there were 4 other ladies (yes, Matthew was the only guy there, poor man) and we all had a great time.  The hostess had created 7 different cards using different techniques (eg embossing, using dimensionals, some crank thing that crinkled the paper, tearing, using assorted pretties like brads and ribbons and different punches) and had enough card stock all cut out and ready to go so that everyone could go around and make at least one of each.  Matthew didn’t make any cards; I think he’s decided that although this is sort of fun, it’s not really his thing.  But he chit-chatted with everyone (most work with me or are friends in town here we’ve spent a lot of time with) and did admit that he had a fun time (helped that our hostess is a grandma and had LOTS of fun toys and lego/megablocks to keep El amused!)  All in all, it was a lot of fun.

Which brings up the point: if Keri has gotten into cardmaking and made lots of Christmas cards (I did make quite a few), why has almost no one received one?  Because Keri likes the fun of creating things and then letting them die in a heap, almost but not quite finished.  I still may send them out… if some people receive Christmas cards from us in March, hopefully they understand.  If some don’t ever get a card, either I forgot you, I got tired of making cards and you are one of the unlucky ones, or more likely: I never got around to sending the cards I have.  Pitiful, I know, but that’s the way I roll.

In the meantime, here are two more random pictures.  They are both from Elizabeth’s first trip to Storybook Island in Rapid City last summer in July.  We had to peel her, bawling from the black plastic horse because she wanted to ride him FOREVER.  Scott, does the other pic make you nostalgic?  Remember those things?  Last year she was too little to really get them bouncing, but this year I bet she’ll love them!

Yay! Matthew’s not as lazy as Keri!

I’m so glad Matthew decided to post on our little website.  I’ve just been so lazy lately that I haven’t gotten anything up.

I do have a confession: my not posting has less to do with true laziness or lack of time and a lot more to do with perfectionism.  Doesn’t make much sense unless you’ve been there, but I just didn’t want to post unless I really had something to say.  I also was trying to get some halloween photos up there, then thanksgiving, then christmas, then…. dear lord anything!  I was having issues with the site and with getting some photos I wanted (I will partially blame Matt for that since I requested he email or copy some photos onto my computer several times and never had any success…)…. but it all comes down to the cold hard reality that I just didn’t feel like posting anything unless I really had something to say.  My brother seems to be the same way, lots of time between posts while life and time gets in his way, but at least he has something useful to say at the end of his time away!  I’m glad my hubby decided to start posting to this blog, even if it is just linking a couple of youtube videos.  I do recommend that you take a look at his business site tho.  I laughed my butt off about a couple of things in his latest post!

So here I am, rambling again with nothing much to say.  I will make a 2nd confession for you: I recently started on Facebook (or as one of my friends called it “Crackbook”).  It really is quite addicting.  The only cool thing I’ve posted so far is a pic from our adventure to Yellowstone this summer.  I’ll close with that pic, since I know so far the only people reading this blog are family members that may or may not be on Facebook.

Happy B-day Matthew!

It’s Matthew’s birthday today.  Yay!  We went out to eat and took a walk and played games and all kinds of good stuff.  And played with our little baby squirt.  She’s so darn cute sometimes.  I tried to get you a good picture, but most of them look like this:

That’s my baby!  Silly girl is always really on the move.  I think she sees the camera and that’s her cue to run around like a crazy wild monkey.  Although really, she doesn’t need that incentive to act like a crazy wild monkey… truly that’s her natural state.  I did get one cute picture tonight tho, so I’ll leave you with this one:

The start of a website

Hello all!  This is Keri speaking.  Matthew and I have had this site up for quite some time, although we haven’t done a whole lot with it.  We’ve used it off and on for posting pictures of Elizabeth, but that’s about it.  I had Matthew restart the website so we can put a little more up here.  I hope this can be a place our family and friends will come to when they want to see what we’re up to (and want to see if Elizabeth is still cute!)

So, a basic rundown of what we’ve been up to lately for anyone we haven’t talked to in a while:

I finished residency June 2008 and am now working at a little clinic/hospital in Wessington Springs.  I have 2 partners and a PA.  We’ve been pretty busy lately since those 3 were gone off and on last month, but things never really got as crazy as residency (except for one or two cases, but I survived!)  I’ve also developed (for some unknown reason) a renewed interest into digging into some genealogy stuff in my free time.

Matthew is working from home, currently building a website for the local newspaper, as well as working on several freelance projects with a friend from college.  He is taking care of Elizabeth during the daytime, except for part of Tuesdays (we’ve both joined the SACC or Springs Area Community Club, and they meet Tuesdays at noon).  Matthew also has a high school student who is interested in programming who is coming here everyday for a special job training/class thing.

Elizabeth continues to grow and explore.  She turned one year old last month and lots of family and friends came for her b-day party over Labor Day weekend.  She walks/runs pretty well and keeps us on our toes!  She’s teething again (getting her 12th tooth, which makes for the front 8 and now her 4th molar) so she’s crabby, napping at odd times, and making Daddy’s life difficult.  Darn good thing she’s cute!  She still loves her cheerios, puffs, most baby foods (not a huge fan of the meats except for the lazagna and spaghetti mixes), and whatever little bits Mommy will feed off her own plate!  El really enjoys all her new toys she got for her birthday: the singing shape sorter cookie jar, the music playing guitar, the train that plays music and spins balls around, her xylophone; as well as a couple older favorites: the alphabet-singing “spin a letter” toy, the push ball popper, farm animal and noah’s ark sets…. really, anything that either makes noise or is good to chew on!

OK, enough about us.  I do plan to put up a few pictures later today or tomorrow.  I make no promises about keeping this updated regularly.  I’m sure it’ll go in fits and spurts, but info will slowly go up here as I get used to the program.

Until later!
