Why am I not joining Amazon Mom? It’s not because I’m not a mom, because they actually accept any caregiver. However I do think it was a marketing mistake to call it Amazon mom. What exactly is it? According to Amazon:
- 20% off diapers and wipes subscriptions
Includes a 5% Subscribe & Save discount plus an additional 15% discount exclusively for Amazon Mom members
- Exclusive deals and discounts
Amazon Mom e-mails, with exclusive deals and discounts on items for your whole family
That’s it? A five percent savings on diapers and wipes (that you have to subscribe to in order to get) and the benefit of receiving ads from Amazon? Hmm.
However once you start reading the fine print it starts looking even better:
Membership Benefits
If you sign up for an Amazon Mom membership, you will receive certain benefits free for an initial three-month period as indicated in the Amazon Mom program pages at the time you sign up. These benefits include FREE Two-Day Shipping on all eligible purchases and 20% off select diapers and wipes, which includes a 5% Subscribe & Save discount plus an additional 15% discount exclusively for Amazon Mom members.
So that 5% saving is only good for the first 3 months? OK, well what information do I have to give to sign up?
The more we know about you and your family, the more we can personalize offers, e-mails, and product recommendations to help you find exactly what you need at just the right time.
So I have to give up my first born (and can sacrifice the rest of my children later apparently). I think I’ll pass.
